Whether you are employed or self-employed, if you have travelled to a temporary workplace, travelled for work or paid for expenses such as uniforms, PPE equipment or training in the past 4 years, you are entitled to a tax refund.
Your claim will depend on factors such as how often you travel for work or to a temporary workplace. Our simple calculator will give you a quick estimate of the tax refund amount you may be entitled to. Once you contact us to start your claims process, one of our specialist tax advisers will take you through your claim so you can be certain of what you can and can’t claim for and how much you will receive.
The process can take 10-12 weeks to complete. While you may receive your tax refund sooner, a comprehensive claim will take 2 weeks to put together and 8-10 weeks for HMRC to process it. These timescales may be longer at peak times for HMRC and the sooner you are able to provide information and supporting documentation to us, the quicker we can compile your claim.
Our fees are highly competitive within the industry. On your initial consultation call your Gorilla Tax adviser will advise you on the fee structure and exactly how much you will pay based on your refund amount.
You will need to provide certain proof of income, such as a P60 or payslips in support of your claim. As you can claim a refund on your tax for up to 4 years, we know you may not always have copies of these to hand.
If you are employed (or were employed in the past 4 years) you should be able to obtain copies of your P60 and payslips from your employer / previous employers. Employers are legally obliged to keep this information for up to 6 years. If you are CIS, self-employed or limited company director, you should be able to obtain this information from the Government Gateway.
